Northern Lights Festival Boreal!

Hi Everyone,

Shana and I got to go experience the many festivities this weekend! To start our day we went over to the Caruso club where the Italian festival was taking place to enjoy all the food and performances. VIVA ITALIA!!! :) They are known for their amazing porketta sandwiches, sausages and pasta! You don't even notice the wait because it is sooooooo WORTH IT! plus you get the opportunity to watch the cooks at work! It is a great way to meet other people who share the same passion, we had the opportunity to sit and talk with people, as well as enjoy some summer music. There was an area dedicated solemnly to children, this event is very family and community oriented. There is such pride in putting on this event, everyone was so friendly it was like being at home :) Before leaving we found the dessert table just piled with traditional Italian desserts needless to say I got my favorite, canolies!!! The pride in traditions and heritage was unavoidable, such an amazing experience.

We finished our day at the Northern lights Festival Boreal which was located at Laurentian University. This is by far my favorite festival, there is just so much interaction, intrinsic artwork and accessories, as well as a variety of musical talents. People were friendly and enthusiastic about sharing their passion with one an other, what an amazing atmosphere to be surrounded in. There was so much for the kids to be involved with from face painting, to musical performances and painting artwork. There was equally as many attractions for the adults from musical performances, to artwork, accessories, clothing etc... There was the freedom to roam around, interact with a variety of individuals and even the opportunity to give back to the community. Walking around and interacting with the variety of events going on around the grounds was enough to create an appetite! The food was Divine and there was a diversity of options available for everyone. I made it my mission to get some Nana's kettle corn and a beaver tail!!!! they were sooooo good.

This concludes our weekend adventures look for us at upcoming events and feel free to stop by our visitor information booth located at market square, hope to see you soon :)

!Happy Canada Day!

Hi guys,

Shana and I had the opportunity to be a part of the festivities down at the Sudbury Arena. It was such a beautiful day to enjoy the celebrations whether at Science North or at the Sudbury Arena. From the moment we walked in you could just smell the amazing food, I just couldn't wait to try everything. I just enjoyed all the diversity and culture around me, the place was packed with people. There was amazing entertainment going on throughout the day from dancing to singing, from one age group to the other. Everyone comes together to enjoy these events to try new and exciting food and experience other cultures. There was even Royal Canadian Mounties walking around the arena taking pictures and engaging with kids and adults of all ages. Shana and I were thrilled to take a picture with our Royal Canadian Mounties. We got to speak and meet so many people who where there enjoying the festivities as much as we were. They were handing out a huge cake made in the shape of our Canadian flag, it was a huge hit among the crowd. It was such a great atmosphere, kids were having fun, adults were talking and watching the performances and we got to interact with many of the vendors. The vendors were enjoying the amazing festivities just as much as we were, it's all about having fun and celebrating this great country. This is by far a hit every year and I can't wait to be a part of it again next year. This is an amazing event and just so exhilarating. CHEMMY MUDBOGGERS!

Hi Everyone,

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Chelmsford for the Mudbogger and demolition derby event!!! It was an amazing experience especially since this was definitely my first time attending this event. There were so many people, whether they were in the audience or participating and the number of attendants are rising every year. This event is great for young and old alike who share the same passion for mudbogging. It is an all day event throughout the weekend and the atmosphere was phenomenal!!!!! There was so much energy which heightened the experience for me personally and for other newcomers. There were plenty of refreshments as well as a bbq for those like me looking for something to tie them over for the afternoon. Everyone was so friendly and informative, especially since I was a novice when it came to mudbogging! I learnt so much in just a couple hours while at the same time getting a little dirty, but to me this is what makes it such an interactive event! Everything was so well organized the event ran smoothly, the crowd and the contenders each had their separate areas as to keep the event as safe as possible. I was just amazed, completely amazed I don't even have the words to express what an incredible event, as well as opportunity this has been.

The drag races were so much fun to watch and just as exciting for the actual contenders participating. There were different class levels in which participants could participate in throughout the weekend. This event is perfect for those who want to showcase their modified vehicles and actually get to race them in a controlled environment.
In another section of the event there was a demolition Derby where participants crashed there vehicles while trying to maneuver in a pit of mud and water!!! They attempt this demolition until the last contender is standing and let me tell you it was great to have witnessed such an event! The entire day just blew my mind and I couldn't thank those who helped me experience this
event first hand enough.

Tour of Dynamic Earth!

Hi Everyone,
Today was another eventful day full of intriguing facts, as well as a brief history of Sudbury Mines. Going up to Dynamic earth and seeing one of our proud trademarks, the big Nickel is something each person must experience individually. From the big Nickel we got to see Sudbury at its finest, what a beautiful view of our prospering city.

Inside there are so many wonderful areas in which to actively engage yourself,as well as a wonderful staff who are eagerly available to answer any questions. It was so interesting to learn about the minerals that can be found right here in our mines like nickel, copper and ore, as well as other treasured gems. They are currently featuring a Strange Matter Exhibit where you can interact with a variety of scientific experiments. It is so refreshing to be able to have these facilities available to the people of Sudbury.
The bottom level holds many more activities to try such as a river bed where you can actually pan for gold flakes, if you were lucky enough to strike GOLD!! As a souvenir they allow the public to take these flakes home. There is something for all ages including a play area for children as young as 3 years of age. There are even mine simulators that the public can actually interact with in order to get the overall experience of being a miner. Myself and the students were able to try on all the gear that a miner would generally wear under ground.
We took an underground tour of different mine shafts which evolved throughout generations to create our safe and productive mines today. It was so neat to hear the history behind Sudbury mines from how they used to mine, to the tools they used. Due to our tour guide's knowledgeable facts and outgoing personality she made the overall experience delightful.

There is much to see and do in Sudbury so come join us on our next amazing adventure!!!!

Our day at Science North!!

Hi guys,
Yesterday the students and I went to check out a variety of fun and interactive attractions offered at Science North. There was that immediate flashback of being a child as I walk through the front doors. There are always new and innovative activities to discover on each floor, as well as amazing shows that go on throughout the day. It's like getting lost in a world of discovery where time is endless and the art of learning never ends

The students and I started our day touring the Dinosaurs Unearthed Exhibition which features life like animatronic dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are so life like that they feel real to the touch, they did a fantastic job creating a fun and inviting atmosphere. It was so exciting to learn how they lived and what parts of the world they were found. The exhibit makes you feel like you've gone back in time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Science North created an environment where we could interact with the exhibit by searching for fossils and playing the role of a paleontologist. The employees were very informative making the experience more engaging, I felt like I acquired so much knowledge. The atmosphere and activities are all kid friendly I would definitely recommend it for children.

In addition to the exhibition we went to see additional attractions which were just as exciting. Dinosaurs 3D which was being featured in the IMAX theater was such an amazing experience, you enbarked on a journey into the world of paleontologists in 3D. It was so interesting to see how fossils can tell palaeontologists so much about the Jurassic era and the way the video recreates an experience for the audience. The video was very informative and easy to understand and in my opinion the creators did an amazing job captivating interesting facts. As a member of the audience I was completely captivated. The theater itself was very comfortable and I enjoyed all the bonuses that you would get at a theater, such as popcorn and other mouth watering treats.

Following our amazing movie in the IMAX 3D we continued our journey throughout each corner of Science North. On the second we found the butterfly exhibit which was so amazing to experience. It was like walking into a tropical paradise filled with exotic butterflies and vegetation. There are also many animals that you can find in our wildlife right here at our fingertips. They have a variety of demenstrations and interactive activities with the wildlife in order to familiarize people natures surroundings. We ended our day by viewing a video about our solar system and constellations in the Digital Planetarium. The dome like theater makes you feel as if they are right at your fingertips and the comfy chairs are an added bonus.

These are some of the many adventures that we experienced on our adventures at Science North. There is so much to see and do for people of all ages, so get out there and enjoy this magnificent attraction for yourselves!!!
